What Is a Yu-Gi-Oh! Pack Opener?

DeckPen's Pack Opener is a free online Yu-Gi-Oh! pack simulator that lets you open virtual booster packs from real Yu-Gi-Oh! sets — without spending a cent. Pick a set, hit Open 1 Pack, and watch the cards flip: Commons, Rares, Super Rares, Ultra Rares, and the chase Secret Rares. Whether you're testing your luck before buying real packs, building a digital collection, or just want the dopamine hit of pulling a shiny card, this is the fastest way to open packs online.

How Realistic Are the Pull Ratios?

Every pack in our simulator follows a real booster's structure — 4 Commons and 1 foil-slot card — and the foil slot rolls against a weighted ladder that approximates each set's actual rarity distribution. We don't rig the odds: Super Rares, Ultra Rares, Secret Rares, and the chase Starlight Rare or Quarter Century Secret Rare appear at their real-world rates. That means a Secret Rare is just as special here as it is in real life — and yes, sometimes you'll open ten packs and get nothing shiny. That's the real pack-opening experience, just without the price tag.

Which Booster Packs Can I Open?

We support every major Yu-Gi-Oh! booster set in the tool, including:

  • The Infinite Forbidden
  • Rage of the Abyss
  • Legacy of Destruction
  • Phantom Nightmare
  • Blazing Dominion
  • …and more, updated as new sets release.

Every set on the list uses its real card pool and rarity list — pick one in the dropdown above and open a pack right here. New core sets are added as they release.

Can I Keep the Cards I Pull?

Yes! Sign in and hit “Save to Collection” after a pack, and every card is added to your DeckPen collection with its rarity and quantity tracked. Build your digital collection pack by pack, keep track of your rarest pulls, and use your cards to build decks with our Deck Builder. It's free to get started — no credit card required.

Pull Rarities Explained

Common

The most frequent cards in every set — most of your pack will be Commons, and most of your playsets start here.

Rare

Above Common in older and side sets, with a foil name. In modern main boosters Rare cards sit between the bulk and the holo slots.

Super Rare

The first holo tier — a silver holographic treatment. In a modern booster the foil slot is a Super Rare about half the time.

Ultra Rare

A gold-foil treatment and the second holo tier — noticeably rarer than a Super, usually around one in four packs.

Secret Rare

The rainbow holographic treatment that collectors chase. Expect roughly one Secret Rare every six to eight packs.

Starlight / Quarter Century Secret

The chase rarity — Starlight Rare in recent sets, Quarter Century Secret Rare before it. Roughly one per display box, and the pull worth screenshotting.

Pack Opener FAQ

What is a Yu-Gi-Oh! pack opener?+
A Yu-Gi-Oh! pack opener (also called a pack simulator) is a free online tool that lets you open virtual booster packs from real Yu-Gi-Oh! sets. DeckPen's Pack Opener uses each set's real card pool and a realistic 4-Commons-plus-foil-slot structure — you get the fun of opening packs and pulling rare cards without spending money.
Are the pull ratios in the simulator realistic?+
Yes. Every pack follows a real booster's structure — 4 Commons and 1 foil-slot card — and the foil slot rolls against a weighted ladder that approximates each set's rarity distribution. Commons, Rares, Super Rares, Ultra Rares, Secret Rares, and the chase Starlight Rare or Quarter Century Secret Rare appear at their real-world rates, so opening a pack feels exactly like opening a real one — including the occasional dry streak. We don't rig the odds.
Do I need to create an account or pay to use the Pack Opener?+
No. The Pack Opener is completely free and you can start opening packs right away without signing up. Creating a free account just lets you save your pulls to your collection and access them from any device.
Can I save the cards I pull?+
Yes. Sign in for free, open a pack, and hit “Save to Collection” — every card in that pack is added to your personal collection with its rarity and quantity tracked. You can browse your collection anytime, check your rarest pulls, and use those cards in the Deck Builder.
Which booster packs can I open?+
Recent TCG main boosters, including Blazing Dominion, Rage of the Abyss, The Infinite Forbidden, Legacy of Destruction, and Phantom Nightmare — plus more on the full set list. New core sets are added as they release.
Can I open multiple packs at once?+
Yes. Open 5, 10, or 36 packs in a single batch, or hit Auto Open to rip through packs continuously. Every pack uses the selected set's real card pool.
What rarities can I pull?+
Every rarity from real packs is in the simulator: Common, Rare, Super Rare, Ultra Rare, Secret Rare, and the chase rarities — Starlight Rare in recent sets and Quarter Century Secret Rare before it. The odds match the set's real rarity distribution.
Is this an official Konami product?+
No. DeckPen is an independent, fan-made tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Konami or any official Yu-Gi-Oh! rights holders. Card images and names are used for informational purposes only, and card data is provided by the free YGOPRODeck API.
